Baby Steps

I keep checking the FSG/Macmillan Kids website but my name and book don't appear yet.

Plus, yesterday I thought I might get a release date, a glimpse at a cover, something. But not yet.

Patience, Gae, patience.

At least yesterday I got an ISBN number.
This means I'm registered in the Library of Congress. Does this make me immortal? Maybe in some small (teeny tiny) way. What it does mean is that long after I'm gone, some kid -- by then a grown-up -- might recall reading my book and search for it and actually come up with it or me by name the way I have done over the years in search of Babbis Friis-Baastad, the author of Don't Take Teddy, the first book I ever remember not being able to put down.

Is this cool? Yeah. You bet your sweet ISBN number it is.

  1. btw, THAT *points up* is not MY ISBN number. That is just an image I lifted for my blog. Just so you know. :)
